How to Make a Frog Bass in Serum

Frog basses for drum and bass in Serum. Here's how you do it.

My notes from this Short

01

Two resonant high passes on LFO 2

The high pass is important. I run the saw on A through the HP 12 from the Multi list with some drive and resonance, and LFO 2 on envelope goes to the cutoff. The important part happens with another EQ in the effects. Put it on high pass with some resonance as well, and LFO 2 goes to this one too.

Serum filter set to HP 12 on oscillator A, with a small resonance bump and some drive

02

One macro for different tones

Put one macro on the cutoff and formant of a formant filter, the depth and frequency of a phaser, and the frequency of the high passes. You'll find different tones if you tweak this one. I use the Formant-II filter from the Misc list and a static phaser, with the rate, depth, frequency and feed taken down.
