How to Add a Sustained Sub Under Your Jump Up Lead

Check out this simple technique to make your jump up tracks way better.

My notes from this Short

01

Sustain the sub instead of copying the lead

I see a lot of people just copy and paste the melody from their lead into the sub, and it doesn't sound quite right. Add a big sustained bass under the lead instead. Play the lead melody over it and it sounds much more full and a lot more cohesive.

The Serum preset I'm using has a basic pitch bend. If your preset doesn't have it, I recommend doing it with automation.

02

Heavy distortion on the sub

I like to use subs with really heavy distortion, as they kind of match that jump up sound. The sub is a really important part of getting this genre right.
