How to Add Background Snares to Your DnB Drop

You've got to use this snare technique to spice up the drums in your drop.

My notes from this Short

01

Turn each extra snare down further

Find a tight snare that kind of matches the snare in your track and put it on two beats. I like to turn the first one down a little bit and the second one down even more. Match that same pattern with the actual snare from the track, turned even further down.

FL Studio playlist with four stacked snare clips: two KULTURE SNARE_7 clips, the second at -2.7dB, then two KULTURE_DNB1_DRUM_OS_SNARE_29 clips at -6.8dB and -11.4dB
The tight snare on top, then the track's own snare. The quieter hits sit at -2.7, -6.8 and -11.4 dB.

Keep the extra snares in the background

Mix them so you just hear them in the background, and copy the pattern to all the same beats. It's an easy way to make your drum patterns way more spicy.
